One in every five children in Missouri is poor. That information is from the US Census Bureau and was released this weekend by the American Community Survey. The ACS said childhood poverty increased three percent in two years. It said that nearly one and a half million children are poor. The ACS also said poverty is not playing favorites in the Show Me State. It said incomes in Missouri were higher in 2007 than in 2009. The American Community Survey said that census information showed that childhood poverty in Missouri grew faster than the state’s actual population grew.
