Missouriy State Highway patrol officials are very pleased with the results of the recent Corporal Michael E. Webster Memorial Blood Drive. This year’s blood drive was expanded from Troop A to include the entire state. 270 units of blood were collected statewide, potentially saving more than 800 lives. Webster was killed in 1993, by a drunk driver while standing next to a vehicle he had stopped for a traffic violation. The Patrol hosted this statewide blood drive to emphasize the seriousness associated with alcohol-related traffic crashes. Someone dies or is hurt in an alcohol-related crash in Missouri every two hours.
