At their planning meeting earlier this year, Kirksville City Council members discussed changing the dollar limit above which an individual product or service purchase would have to come beofre the council for direct approval. Tonight, they’ll implement the change they discussed. At that planning meeting the Council discussed changing the threshold to $15,000 or more. Since the Council prepares the annual budget, these purchases would be included in the detail and have already been approved by the Council. According to city staff, the Council’s decision to increase the threshold will provide for purchases to be made sooner allowing operations to run more efficiently.
