This year the 2013 Missouri Livestock Symposium will bring in speakers from 10 states and from coast to coast, as in the past. But some of these speakers will be talking about things of interest to all consumers regardless of whether they are from the city or the country. Organizers have expanded the Around the Home and Farm Section. Topics and speakers include Food Safety for Farmers Markets; and Comparing GMO, Traditional, and Organic Grown Foods. Scheduled for just over a week from now in Kirksville, the Missouri Livestock Symposium will also feature an agriculturally related trade show, a free beef meal on Friday evening the 6th at 6 p.m., and a free lunch on Saturday the 7th at noon, coordinated by the Missouri Department of Agriculture. The Livestock Symposium will also have a food drive for the Food Bank. Non-perishable food items will be collected at the registration table during the event.
