It’s hard to imagine with the temperatures and snow we’ve had this week, but spring is less than 70 days away. The National Weather Service has announced its date for Severe Weather Spotter Training in Kirksville this year. The 2014 SKYWARN Storm Spotter (Tornado Spotter) Training Program will be held Wednesday, March 26th at 7 p.m. at the Rehoboth Baptist Church in Kirksville.
Topics covered include
- Under what conditions thunderstorms develop
- What makes one thunderstorm severe and another not
- How to visually identify and report severe weather
- How to stay safe during severe weather
The presentation will feature striking photos and video of recent storms to enhance the learning process. At the conclusion of the training, attendees will have the option of registering with the National Weather Service to be an official severe storm spotter. It’s free, and anyone can attend.
