Day one of candidate filing for the spring elections, and already two races are setting up. They are for the offices of judge and collector. Filing for local and state races opened Tuesday. Election officials say reces have setup locally for Associate Circuit Judge. Sitting judge Kristie Swaim, a Democrat, filed first, soon to be followed by Republican Josh Meyer. That particular race may sound familiar — Meyer, a Republican, has tried to run against Swaim. Additionally, the race for Adair County Collector appears wide open with Republicans Bill King and Mike Brummit and Democrat Sonja Harden seeking office. Incumbent David Erwin will not seek a fifth term.
