Downtown Signal Lights Close to Coming Out

In addition to beefing up the teeth of parking enforcement, Kirksville City Council members are doing something else about traffic — tentatively agreeing this week to take out some of the traffic lights in the city. While the decision reached during Monday night’s study session was not final, it appears signals will be removed from the Franklin and McPherson intersection and the Elson and Jefferson intersection. McPherson and Elson streets will have stop signs placed on them while Franklin and Jefferson streets will have through traffic. The plan is also to take out the left turn lanes at Franklin and Jefferson and at Marion and Jefferson, but the traffic signals will remain.
