Road Surfacing Project Begins Today in Adair and Macon Counties

Beginning today, Highway 63 in Adair and Macon Counties will begin to undergo a resurfacing project.
The project on the northbound lanes goes from La Plata to Kirksville, while the southbound work will go from La Plata to Atlanta. A MoDOT engineer says they first part of the process will be to fix some bad spots in the pavement. Then after a short week to 2 week break, crews will be back to mill the surface of the roadway and install a new layer asphalt. That part of the roadwork is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 16th.

Chester Bross of Palmyra, Missouri was awarded the contract for $2,951,395. They have 73 calendar days to complete the project. Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone while the work is completed. Signs are already in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work. Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through this area, and obey all work zone signs and personnel. Remember always buckle up and put your phone down to eliminate distractions.
