New Kirksville Pool Plans

After the Kirksville City Council learned in June that construction bids for the new Aquatic Center were $2.5 million higher than was budgeted, the city had to reassess plans. The higher bids were blamed on higher costs for concrete and steel. The city’s consulting and design firm has been working on options for city leaders that cut costs. The new plan calls for two outdoor pools to be combined into a single mechanical system. There are changes in the materials and design for the building that will house the offices, locker rooms and the indoor pool. The fun aspects of the original plan remain – including the diving board, slides, and climbing wall. The new outdoor pools would open for Memorial Day 2021.
