State executes Michael Tisius

The State of Missouri has executed a man who killed two jailers. 42-year-old Michael Tisius died by lethal injection yesterday evening. He’d been convicted in the murders of Leon Egley and Jason Acton at the Randolph County Jail. His lawyers had asked the U.S. Supreme Court to block the execution, saying a juror at a sentencing hearing couldn’t read, which is in violation of state law. The court rejected that motion, and Governor Mike Parson refused to stop the execution.
