The Adair County Sheriff’s Office says Scammers call random citizens claiming to be with the Adair County Sheriff’s Office and request payment for supposed outstanding warrants, citations or a legal matter and say they are a member of the office. If you get a call of this nature, it’s fake! Hang up! The Adair County Sheriff’s Office does not make calls asking for payments, and the office would never process payments for warrants or any other service by phone. Further adding to the realism, the scammers may be spoofing the Sheriff’s Office’s phone number or it may be an online created number, making it appear on caller ID that the call is coming from Adair County Sheriff.
