Woman killed in weekend crash

A 71 year old woman from Kahoka, Missouri, was killed in a two-vehicle crash that happened on Sunday night. The Highway Patrol says the driver of a GMC Savana, 70-year-old John Briggs of Kahoka, failed to yield at a stop sign on Route B at Route C, a mile south of St. Francisville, and entered the path of a GMC Sierra. The Sierra hit the passenger side of the Savana. Linda Smith, an occupant in the Savana, was killed. Another passenger in the Savana, 56-year-old Riva Weir of Keokuk, Iowa, suffered serious injuries and was taken by air to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. Briggs suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Fort Madison Community Hospital. None of the two people injured, or the woman who was killed, were wearing a seat belt.
