Monroe City woman dies in weekend crash

A 37-year-old woman from Monroe City was killed in a single-vehicle wreck that happened just after 2 a.m. Sunday, May 26th. The Highway Patrol says Crystal Hooper was driving a Chevy Tahoe on U.S. 61, two miles north of Palmyra, when the vehicle went off the left side of the road, hit an embankment, and overturned. Hooper, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, 40 year old Jeffrey Hendrix of Monroe City, was seriously hurt and was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
