On July 15, 2025, at approximately 9:38am, the Moberly Police Department responded to a report of a subject who had been electrocuted after tampering with a utility line in the 1700 block of Leah Lane. Upon arrival, officers found the individual, who had sustained serious injuries after coming into contact with the live utility line. Emergency medical services transported the subject to Moberly Regional Medical Center for treatment. The subject, a 54-year-old man from Moberly, was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Currently, the incident is being investigated as an accident. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members. The Moberly Police Department is working closely with utility officials to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the event. We urge the public to exercise caution around utility lines and report any suspicious activity immediately to ensure safety for all.
