A crash occurred on Highway 63, two miles north of Atlanta, Missouri, on December 5, 2024, at 8:30 p.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident involved a 2008 Kia Optima and a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound. Authorities report that the driver of the Kia, a 61-year-old woman from Kirksville, Missouri, fell asleep at the wheel and collided with the rear of the Silverado.
The Kia Optima sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Still’s Towing. The Silverado, driven by a 61-year-old man from Kirksville, sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. Both drivers were reported to have been wearing seat belts.
A 54-year-old woman from Kirksville, a passenger in the Silverado, sustained moderate injuries. She was transported by private vehicle to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment.
