Suspect Caught After Kirksville Stand-Off

A standoff in Kirksville Thursday afternoon, as Kirksville police tried to arrest 25 year old Austin Triplet at a house on West Cottonwood.

Triplet has been wanted since he and a woman showed up in the ER back in November with gunshot wounds.
He’s charged with dealing drugs, unlawful possession of a gun, plus he had other outstanding warrants. Police learned he was living at a home with a woman identified as Tasha McKim. When officers showed up at her house, she was arrested for hindering arrest, but Triplet barricaded himself inside.

After talking with officers, he finally gave up.

More Who Are Fully Vaxed Get Covid

Covid count in Adair County: 28 new cases of the virus on Wednesday. Nearly half of the new cases are in people who are fully vaccinated — including a 71 year man, who had the shots — but he’s in the hospital in Columbia with Covid. So the number of those who’ve been vaccinated — yet get the virus — continues to climb.

Today, (Thursday), a pediatric vaccination clinic is schedule from 3 to 5:30…at the health department.

A Third Of New, Local Covid Cases In Those Who’ve Been Vaccinated

Covid-count: 49 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Adair county on Tuesday.

And 16 of them…or 32%…were people who were vaxxed.

Since last Friday, there have been 87 new cases reported in the county.

On Thursday, the Adair county health department will give shots to kids…ages 5-11. Meantime, Pfizer is asking the Feds to allow the vaccine for kids under five. A decision on that could come this week. Pfizer is proposing three doses of the vaccine for kids 6 months through age 4

Call Center Jobs Coming To Kirksville

New jobs coming to Kirksville. A company that dispatches power crews for more than 450 companies around the country is opening a facility in Kirksville.

Cooperative Response Center will invest more than $1 million and create at least 87 jobs. Governor Parson said they would be good paying jobs though a specific number not given.

Cooperative Response receives more than 6 million calls a year from members and customers of electric cooperatives and municipal utilities. The company is currently training staff at the Kirksville campus of Moberly Community College

Adair Library Offers Assistance For Veterans

Helping military veterans.

The Adair County Public Library now has an online program called Brainfuse VetNow. It provides all kinds of support to veterans including help navigating the VA for benefits. The system also provides employment assistance and tutoring. It’s available from any computer or mobile device. Learn more at the library’s website

Another Snow Emergency For Kirksville

Another snow emergency for the city of Kirksville…starting at 11 Tuesday night.

It means that all vehicles parked on Snow Emergency Routes, including City streets in the Downtown, have to be moved within two hours, or by 1:00 am. This is necessary so city crews can remove the snow. The City encourages all residents to be off the roads until snow is cleared. The National Weather Service is predicting anywhere from 5 to 12 inches of snow as part of this storm.

Covid Has Some Hospital Administrators Emptying Trash

Some hospitals in the state are struggling with all the covid-patients.

Around St. Louis, administrators and other staff members are taking-on extra work to help take the load off nurses. Such things as getting supplies; answering phones, transporting patients or even helping out with housekeeping duties. Some hospitals are short staffed thanks to covid….in addition to having a surge of covid patients.

Another Adair County Covid Death

The Adair County Health Department confirms the 50th covid death on Friday. A 60 year old man — who had been vaccinated — passed away. Also on Friday, 47 new cases reported. The Health Department also reminds you that they have a covid-vaccine clinic set for tomorrow for adults. Call and make an appointment, if you want to get a shot.

The Sullivan County Health Department says they heave 11 new cases of COVID-19 — that number reported on Friday.

It means that 49 cases are active at the moment. And, 20 have died in Sullivan county since the pandemic started.

Missouri Couple Sentenced In DC Riot

A man and woman from Missouri will not go to prison for taking part in the riot on Capitol Hill last year.

But they will have to stay home.

Zachary Wilson gets 45 days of home detention, and Kelsey Wilson gets 30 days. There is also some community service involved, and they each have to pay $500 for damages at the capitol.

The couple is from Springfileld. They apologized, telling the court they got caught up in the crowd.

Covid Cases Climb; One Area Hospital Running Short Of Tests

Covid count: In Adair county yesterday, 66 new cases reported. And about 20% of the new cases are people who’ve been vaccinated.

There was a wide age range in the latest cases of those reported to have the virus — from 3 months to 84 years old.

In Sullivan county, 17 new cases confirmed.

Meantime, a shortage of covid tests. Scotland county hospital says they’re running low on test kits…so, now you can’t just walk in and be tested. The hospital is limiting the tests to people who actually have symptoms.
