Senator Josh Hawley throwing his support to Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler in the race for Senate. He made the endorsement Saturday at Missouri State Lincoln Days in St. Charles. But she has lots of competition from other Republicans, including: former Gov. Eric Greitens, Attorney General Eric Schmitt, Congressman Billy Long and St. Louis lawyer Mark McCloskey, who grabbed headlines back in 2020 when he and his wife pointed guns at protesters.

Lawmakers are still trying to draw congressional districts in Missouri.

The state Senate held an unusual Saturday session to take-up the issue. But no solution.

Republicans control the Senate, but they’re divided on how to draw the maps. The House approved districts that would give Republicans a likely edge of six members of Congress elected from Missouri and two districts likely to pick democrats. But some in the GOP want to draw the districts in such a way that even more Republicans would be elected to Congress from the state.

A teenager was badly hurt Sunday morning in a wreck near Paris. The state patrol says the teen went off the road in a curve, hit a power pole, then flipped over in a pond. The driver — a 16 year old boy — was flown the hospital. His name not given. The patrol says he was wearing a seat belt.

A State House committee defeated a bill that would have made it easier to claim self-defense after shooting someone. If passed, it would have meant that prosecutors could not bring charges against a person who reasonably believes they were acting in self-defense. Police would need to find evidence to the contrary. One prosecutor called it the “Make Murder Legal Act.”

Another day, another batch of covid cases in Adair County — 21 new cases confirmed yesterday. About half of them — ten patients — had been vaccinated, but they got the virus anyway. New cases include four people in the K-12 schools and two in local universities.

Not much progress in the effort to redraw congressional voting districts in Missouri. The state senate will try again Thursday.

A plan passed last month by the state House would likely keep six Republicans and two Democrats in Congress from Missouri. But conservatives are pushing for maps that would flip another democratic seat to the GOP.

Another death in Adair county connected to covid, the 51st death from the virus since the pandemic began.

A 57 year old woman who was vaccinated, died on February 3rd. In addition, another 16 cases reported on Wednesday. The daily count is coming down in Adair county. A few weeks ago, we were seeing nearly 60 cases a day.

In the latest 16 cases counted Wednesday, four of them had been vaccinated.

Kirksville police are asking that you take a look a picture of 16 year old Brooke Thompson. It’s posted on their Facebook page. She ran off from home last week-end, and a young man — whose picture is also on the police Facebook page — may know something about where she is. Chrisman celebrating a decade as the executive director of K-Redi. It’s a job she took after being a school teacher. She had limited experience in recruiting and economic development. But her boss says she’s good at it, and he credit’s Chrisman with bringing jobs to town through the Kraft Heinz expansion and the High Prairie Wind Farm Project. Just to name a couple.

Covid count: 38 new cases of covid in Adair county reported yesterday. And 19 of those are people who’ve had the shots.

An adult vaccination clinic today at the health department in Adair county. And the Macon County Health Department will be holding two COVID-19 vaccine clinics this week. Pfizer shots will be given to those 12 and up on Wednesday — and the Moderna vaccine on Thursday for those 18 and up.
