Minor injuries in a crash in Randolph County on Saturday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 71-year-old Mary Mills of Moberly was driving a BMW X3 on Highway M, three miles east of Moberly, when the vehicle went off the left side of the road, hit a culvert, and a utility pole. Mills was taken by private vehicle to Boone Hospital. She was wearing a seat belt.

the City of Kirksville would like to remind residents that City Hall will be closed this Thursday and Friday, December 7 and 8.

This is for the relocation of multiple departments within City Hall. The Community and Economic Development Department, which includes Codes and Planning, is moving to the first floor, right across the hall from the Finance Department. The Administration Department and Human Resources Department are moving to the second floor.

Codes, Planning and Finance are the most visited departments at City Hall, so having them right next to each other on the first floor provides greater ease of use for residents and improved efficiency between the departments.

An overnight fire in Kirksville caused Truman State University sorority members to evacuate their house. The fire impacted four students who were members of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Although no injuries were reported, the students lost clothing, school supplies, and furniture. A GoFundMe page was set up to assist the students in recovering from their losses.

Several northern Missouri cities have been approved for Transportation Alternative Program grants through the Missouri Department of Transportation. MoDOT reports that the projects focus on non-motorized transportation, emphasizing bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

Kirksville was awarded grants for two projects: $340,000 for crosswalk safety improvements and $160,000 for a Rail to Trail project.

Filing for City Council candidates begins Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 8:00 am and continues through Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at 5:00 pm. You may file in the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 201 S. Franklin St., during regular business hours.

The Adair County Commission and the Adair County Clerk’s Office will host a public hearing on December 4, 2023. The hearing will discuss the realignment of the county’s commission district boundaries. This is due to the 2020 census data showing that the current boundaries don’t equally represent the county’s population. The hearing will be at the Adair County Annex in Kirksville.

Moberly has a new integrated equipment company. A grand opening ceremony was held yesterday for EquipmentShare, an integrated equipment rental and equipment asset management company.

Leaders with the Columbia based company say this 46-million-dollar investment will create 151 new jobs over the next four years.

A casino could be coming to the Lake of the Ozarks. Yesterday the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office signed off on language for a proposed ballot initiative, which asks voters if they want to amend the state Constitution to allow for a 14th gambling boat license.

The next step is for supporters to select one of four proposed petitions and collect at least 170-thousand signatures to get the measure on the 2024 ballot.

The Missouri State Fair and the Youth In Agriculture Committee are accepting applications for Youth In Agriculture scholarships.

The scholarships are available to Missouri high school students graduating in 2024. Applicants must be members of Missouri 4-H or FFA and have participated at least once as a 4-H or FFA exhibitor at the Missouri State Fair.

The Truman and Kirksville holiday classic is back: the 2023 Holiday Choral Concert.
It features Truman’s choirs and the Kirksville High School choirs. It will take place on December 1st.
