Kirksville Police Look For Hobby Lobby Creeper

Kirksville police out with pictures of a man who reportedly acted strangely at the Hobby Lobby? What exactly did he do? Police aren’t saying — they’re just calling him a person of interest in an investigation.

You can see the pics on the police facebook page. The man is white, shoulder length black hair. He’s a bit pudgy, and wears glasses.

The man left the store in a silver, four-door Dodge truck. Police hope for tips to find him.

Still Spreading — The Latest Covid Strain

Covid count for Adair county: The virus is on the rise again with 81 cases in the most recent 7-day counting period. That’s up from 66 in the previous seven-days.

This reflects what is happening across the country with steady increases in the BA.5 strain. And vaccines do not keep you from getting it.

Meantime, the Adair County Health Department continues to administer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. Those 12 and older can get the shot on Tuesdays from 2 to 4pm. And those ages 5 through 11 can get the jab on Thursdays from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

Town Hall Over 9-1-1 Phone Fee

A buck a month to call 9-11. Right now, you pay $1 a month for each phone you have with the money helping to pay for Adair county’s 911 center. \

In August, a measure on the ballot would make that buck a month per phone — permanent — if voters approve.

Otherwise, it expires in just over a year. So next week, the 911 communications director will hold three town hall meetings to answer questions. The first is next Tuesday, at the Adair County Ambulance District Training Center. Wednesday at the Novinger Fire Station, then Thursday at the Keller bilding in Brashear. The three sessions all start at 6pm.

Scotland Sheriff: Feds Denied Gun Permit Records

He will not co-operate with the FBI. Scotland county sheriff Bryan Whitney says he will not give the Feds information about who has a concealed carry permit.

Whitney wrote a letter to citizens to say that FBI wants to audit sheriff’s offices to see gun records. But Whitney says that would violate state law and he won’t do it.

Pool Closed At Acquatic Center

Everybody out of the pool. The indoor pool at Kirksville Aquatic Centeris is now closed through July 31st for scheduled repairs. During this time the water park will be available for lap swim and water walking from 6:00 am – 9:30 am and 11:00 am – 12:00 pm Monday – Friday.

The indoor pool at the Aquatic Center reopens on August 1st.

Sheriff Identifies Adair Murder Victim

The Adair county sheriff says the body found on Youngstown Trail last week is that of 54 year old Stephen G. Munn. Cause of death, not given.

The man they’re looking for in the case, still hasn’t been found. He’s 38 year old Jesse Rongey. The sheriff is out with more pictures of Rongy. He’s white with a moderately long black beard and alot of ink.

Pictures show a tattoo that says “Don’t Mess with Texas and the number 13 ½. on his back. Also a large deer tatto…a woodpeckers on his arm. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Toddler Hit By Car

In Schuyler county, a 3 year old boy was hit by a car after the patrol says he wandered into the road on Highway 136. Officers say that 30 year Sarah Lawson of Moberly was the driver. The child was flown to the Chiltdren’s hospital in Des Moines. Injuries described as serious.

Got Covid? Health Department Says “Let Us Know”

Covid count in Adair county: 66 cases of Covid-19 reported in the past seven days. That is lightly better than the 77 reported the prior week.

Of course, accurate numbers are hard to come by since many people take home tests and do not report their results. If you do test positive, the Adair county health department would like to know about it, to help with a more accurate case-count.

New Mayor Selected In Macon

New mayor in Macon. The City Council approved Tony Petre to be the Mayor. He will serve the remaining term of former Mayor Scott Bigham which runs until 2026.

Bigham resigned as mayor not long after he was elected. He said council members and the town administrator worked against him and tried to embarrass him.

Remains Found On Adair Property

The Adair county sheriff’s office found human remains on property near Youngstown Trail. Officers had received a call, asking them to check on the person living there. They will do an autoposy and the name of the victim not given at this time.
