Heads-up for road work on Route 6 in Grundy and Sullivan counties. Starts Monday, May 2nd and runs for two weeks. The work to be done from 7am to 7pm. During the work, one lane of Route 6 will be closed in 2-mile sections, and a 14-foot width restriction will be enforced.

Kirksville police say thieves broke into Lovegreen Ford Chrysler and stole two Jeep vehicles. Both vehicles have been recovered. But no arrests yet.

The first will be on June 9 at the Kirksville Aquatic Center. The second session, August 17th at the amphitheater at Rotary park. Meetings are from 5 to 8pm

A wreck involving an Adair county ambulence Monday, as it was transporting a young boy. The patrol says a pick-up pulled into the path of the ambulence. And the impact caused the ambulence to flip on its side on Hwy 65 in Pettis county. The ambulence crew and the 12 year old patient had minor injuries. But the other driver, 21 year old Logan Parker of Sedalia, was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital.

Alot of glass. The city of Kirksville has recycled more than 200 tons of glass since recycling of glass items started in 2016. The program began with a grant to the city and it has been very successful.

If you want to recycle glass bottles and jars — just pick an approved tote at city hall for 4-bucks. Then the first Monday of each month, set the tote by the curb, and the city will collect the glass.

Kirksville police are looking for a guy who damaged property, and they have a picture of the suspect on their Facebook page. The surveillance photo was taken in a nearby store where the suspect stopped to buy something.

He’s white — thin hair on top — with a salt and pepper beard. Police hopes somebody can identify him. They did not give details on the property damage they believe he committed.

A group promoting the idea of legalizing weed says they have enough signatures to force the issue onto the November ballot for Missouri voters to decide. But they’re still collecting signatures before handing in the petitions on May the 8th. The ballot initiative would allow Missourians over 21 to smoke weed, and grow it for personal use.

In Macon and Linn counties, you could say this is “slow down Thursday.” State troopers will be running radar on Highway 36 looking for speeders, as well as other traffic violations. The blue-light special runs until six this evening.

Covid count: the Adair county health department reports 15 new cases of the virus in the past week. That’s six more than the prior week. The health department offers the Pfizer’s shot, for adults, next Tuesday afternoon from 2 to 4.

Gas prices are going up again. The national average for a gallon of regular gas was $4.10 on Tuesday. In Missouri, AAA says the average is 3.72 a gallon.

Adair county, a little cheaper, at $3.65 a gallon. Analysts don’t believe prices will come down much — if at all — as the sumer driving season begins.
