Covid Continues To Climb, Some Get It A Second Time

Monday was a big day for new covid cases in Adair county. 60 cases reported. 38 females and 22 males.

The largest number of cases were reported in the 21-30 age group, followed by those 11 to 20.

On Tuesdays in January vaccine clinics for adults at the health department and Thursday…kids can be vaccinated from 3-5pm. You have to call to set-up an appointment.

In Macon county, 159 new cases of the virus in the last week. That’s 48 more than the week before. And nine of those cases were people with the virus for the second time.

Accused Kirksville Killer Captured

He’s been caught. A 22 year old man wanted for killing two people and wounding two others last month in Kirksville.

AJ Glover was captured by U.S. Marshalls and state patrol Monday afternoon. Another man charged in the case was previously arrested — 52 year old Ray Rijos.

Still no word on a motive in the murders that happened at an apartment on West Dodson. One of those killed was an 18 month old boy along with another man. While a man and woman were wounded.

Truman: Mask Wearing To Continue

Wearing a mask in buildings at Truman state is still required for now. Even those vaccinated will have to mask-up. The university says it will review the policy again near the end of January.

Icy Roads Cause Vehicle To Flip

A wreck blamed in icy roads on Sunday afternoon. The state patrol says 33 year old Chyane Fox traveled off the left side of Route C near Kahoka and flipped over. She was taken to Blessing Hospital with moderate injuries.

Adair Ends Week With More Covid Cases

Adair county closed the week on Friday with another 40 cases of Covid 19.

That goes with 130 cases in the previous three days last week. The youngest reported case on Friday, a 10 month old boy. And 35 cases reported last week were in people who had been vaccinated.

Hospitals feeling the affects of the surge. The number of people in the hospital with Covid in Missouri continues to climb. On Friday, 3,235 people were hospitalized with the virus statewide — beating the prior record — and leaving only about 15% of the state’s hospital beds available.

New School Board Members — But No Election

The Kirksville RIII school board will get two new members, but voters will not have a say in the matter.

Mikey Bishop and Julie James-Sneddon filed to run for two open seats on the board, but no other candidates filed. So, no need for an election. Bishop and James-Sneddon will be sworn-in.

They will replace Gayla McHenry and John McConnell who were up for re-election this year, but both decided not to run again.

More Than A Hundred Covid Cases This Week In Adair County

Covid keeps spreading in Adair county. The health department report 32 new cases Thursday…meaning 130 cases in just three days this week. Ten of the Thursday cases were kids in the K-12 schools. And the youngest reported with the virus on Thursday were two five year old girls.

Valentine’s Day is just over a month away. Kirksville Parks and Recreation has something new for kids this year.
It’s called Build a Buddy.

For 15 bucks you get a kit that has everything you need to build a stuffed buddy. It has a character that you stuff with the soft material included. Plus, it has a mini-heart and a birth certificate.

Covid Cases Surging Locally

Another 43 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Wednesday by the Adair County Health Department. That comes after 55 cases on Tuesday — meaning 98 cases confirmed in just two days. The youngest reported on Wednesday — a couple of one-year-olds.

Four cases are in the K-12 schools and 12 of the Wednesday cases — or 28% — had been vaccinated. A vax clinic for kids is being held Thursday afternoon at the health department.

In Macon county in the past week, covid cases also jumped. 111 new cases reported, compared to 35 the previous week

Muslim Woman Sues Missouri Gun Shop Over Head Covering

A Muslim woman is suing a Missouri gun shop and firing range. Her lawsuit says that she was not allowed to use the shooting range unless she removed her head covering known as a hijab. \

Rania Barakat says she went to the store last year — Frontier Justice in Lee’s Summit. The store issued a statement saying the dress code is designed to keep the gun range customers safe, and that it not discriminatory.
